Like Something the Cat Dragged In…

Let me say right off that I have nothing of any substance to convey to you this week. I’m recovering from a head cold that my wonderful kids gifted me so I’m giving myself the week off from any attempt to produce something of quality. But I still wanted to talk to ya…

I must say that it’s amazing how quickly you can get healthy when you really need to. I came down with the cold on Thursday. By thursday night I was feeling like something the cat dragged in and probably looked like who did it and ran. I was simply mired, tired and uninspired. All I wanted to do was to beat feet and retreat, or hide like Bonnie and Clyde.

I had a Self Hypnosis class to give on Saturday (23 students, my largest enrollment yet!) Cancelling was not a prospect but neither was sneezing on the class. Well, that was the fastest cold I ever got over. I gave the class in what I thought was fine form. (I was taking 3 packs of Emergen-C a day and drinking gallons of water. Oh, and actually getting eight hours of sleep, what a concept.)

(Here’s a valuable tip. Don’t ever say “I know I’m going to get sick” or “I’ll probably catch a cold.” The subconscious mind is always listening in. Try something like “I’m so Bad, no bug can get to me!”)

Anyway, Sunday we threw a Halloween party at my house and took the kids trick or treating for the first time. They loved it. I was just grateful that I felt good enough to throw back a couple of Sam Adams Octoberfests. I figured the alcohol might kill what was left of what was ailing me…(no pun intended.)

At one point on Friday I couldn’t do anything but surf You Tube so I searched for the Beatles film “Let It Be” and lo and behold! It was there in 9 parts. I’d never seen it. Now I can die in peace…

Monday night I followed my own advice and I went out to my home office, lit a couple of candles, put on my favorite new agey music, and sat on the floor and zoned out.  Something I used to do many years ago in the little Tucson bachelor pads I used to live in. I know it sounds kind of woo-woo and all but it sure made me feel better, cause this morning I woke up feeling like the cat….
